Couple: An App for Two

by Fat Daddy, Esq. on August 7, 2013

Communication is key to a healthy relationship. When I was in junior high the telephone was the popular way to talk to a girl. Text messaging is the popular way to communicate these days. It seems only natural that texting your spouse would be a popular way to keep in touch. It is quick and efficient and can take place even in a meeting or courtroom when a phone call would be impossible. The text messaging app included on the iPhone is a sufficient way to make this connection. But recently Hot Mama and I started using an app called Couple.

The regular text messaging app lets you have text conversations with many people, either individually or in groups. With Couple you are linked to only one other person. You and your spouse have a dedicated communication app which takes effective communication to another level.

One of my favorite features for Couple is the password protection feature. Sure, you can have a passcode on your entire phone, and you should, but this provides another level of security and privacy from my eight year old who reads on a sixth grade level. And reading isn’t all that you can do. You can draw pictures, schedule events, share lists and even include risqué pictures and videos (a feature that is lamentably underutilized in my experience).

Another fun but quirky feature is something called “Thumbkiss” which allows you to “kiss” your spouse when you are both in the app at the same time. After selecting this option you touch the screen and the other user can see a representation of your fingerprint on their screen. When the other user touches your print the screen flashes red momentarily indicating a successful kiss.

I still send Hot Mama texts using the regular texting app. The texts about picking up groceries or dropping off kids go by regular text. We reserve the Couple app for the other texts, pictures and videos that are not just the mundane topics of daily life. This makes the communication more meaningful. When I get a message over Couple, I know it is not going to be a reminder about gymnastics practice. It is going to be a message for my eyes only about our thoughts, feelings and desires.

Check out Couple here:

Note: I have not been compensated in any way nor do the good folks at Couple even know who I am, I just really like this app.
